We had both dinners during our stay in Bonavista here. It's always busy -- get there early! The live music provides a cozy atmosphere and all the seafood dishes we had were delicious, especially the lobster!
A must-try in Bonavista with local ingredients. Overlooks the harbour too. I walked-in for dinner in early May before peak season, was able to get a table easily.
We came here for a chance if possible reopen for the season and the answer was Yes. The mussels and calamari were tasty. We also ordered spaghetti meatballs and fish and chips. The spaghetti noodle was overcooked which was too soft. The fried cod was tender and delicious. Friendly staff and nice ocean view to have dinner with family.
We loved the food and atmosphere at Skipper’s! We had the seafood lasagna and the pan fried cod, both with salad. Very good! Lots of seafood in the lasagna! The decor in the restaurant is quite interesting. Make sure you see the lobster claws at the bar. We ate inside as it was too breezy but would have been great to eat in the back deck overlooking the ocean. Enjoy!
Ashley, Leona and Laura were kind enough to accommodate me at the last moment. Fish and chips was heavenly, the view was amazing and the music was great too! Definitely a must visit when in Bonavista! I went there for Day 2 and had the seafood lasagna. Absolutely delectable. But the dessert stole the show - steamed partridgeberry pudding with caramel rum sauce. A must try. Definitely a place worthy of multiple visits when in Bonavista.
This was such a memorable spot for us. The atmosphere was unlike any other. It was so charming inside especially at dinner time sunset on the water. There was live music from 6-8, really lovely. Enjoyed a good, hearty meal - great veggie and gluten free menu too! Favourites were the veggie lasagna, salmon dinner, and steamed pudding (to die for!). Our server Ashley was so awesome and lovely, remembered us from the night before. The waitresses really keep this place afloat, they manage a busy, bustling environment with grace and ease. Will be back next visit!
We came to love Skipper’s Restaurant while staying three nights at the attached Harbour Quarters Inn in late May. Skipper’s food is quite good and beer selection often local and interesting. But the service is the star of the show. These folks work some long hours, yet maintain kind composure and a welcoming, friendly attitude. I really enjoyed getting to know some of these ladies during our stay and sincerely appreciate how well they took care of us.
If I had these in Toronto, it would cost over 300! It’s so much cheaper here The snow crab is incredible — I highly recommend it! And the lobster too
